Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield to start Sunday vs. Steelers

The Cleveland Browns will see the return of their starting quarterback when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday.

After missing last Thursday’s game due to multiple injuries, Baker Mayfield will be making his return to the starting lineup. Mayfield is dealing with a torn labrum and fractured humerus bone in his non-throwing shoulder.

Injured or not, Baker Mayfield has not been himself this season. Throws have been off-target or ill-timed, two things that can be due to his injury. Unfortunately subpar field vision, poor timing, a lack of pocket presence, and holding the ball longer than should does not apply to his injuries. Mayfield’s numbers this season have been pedestrian at best and when the team turned to Case Keenum last week they saw a typical Mayfield performance from the last two seasons under Kevin Stefanski.

If Baker Mayfield were to struggle or see his injuries in shoulder become worse, it would not be all that surprising to see the Browns turn to Keenum once again.
