Amed Rosario

Amed Rosario carries load in 7-2 win over Royals

The Cleveland Baseball Club shortstop went 5-5 in the 7-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Amed Rosario was more than ready for Tuesday night’s game in Kansas City. Rosario started things off in the 1st inning with an inside-the-park home run to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead.

This was just the start of what ended up being a historical night for the Cleveland shortstop. Amed Rosario would come up in the 5th inning and deliver with a two-run single for his third hit of the game.

Perhaps Amed Rosario was a bit tired in the 7th inning as this time his home run went over the fence, not requiring an all out sprint to make it around the bases.

In the 9th Amed Rosario would reach on an infield single to finish the game 5-5. Rosario became the first player to go 5-5 with five RBI and homer in both forms in a game since 1920, the year which RBI became an official stat.

The other two Cleveland runs came off the bat of Bobby Bradley who homered in the 8th inning. Bradley drove in Bradley Zimmer to extend Cleveland’s lead to seven for the moment.

All of the work from Amed Rosario gave Zach Plesac more than enough cushion to come away with a win. Plesac would allow just two hits in 7 innings while striking out seven. This was the first start since early May that Plesac did not allow a run and just his third of the season overall. Before this start Plesac had allowed 19 runs in 27 innings, not necessarily an impressive run. Seeing this type of start, even against a lackluster Royals team, is encouraging to see from a pitcher who has shown the ability to pitch better than he has this season.

Cleveland can take their second game in a row in Kansas City Wednesday night at 8:10 P.M.
