12 hits not enough for Cleveland in 3-2 loss

The Cleveland Baseball Club managed to get 12 hits off the Minnesota Twins, but were unable to convert them into enough runs in a 3-2 loss.

One would think that 12 hits would result in more than 2 runs and a win. Well that was not the case Monday as the Cleveland Baseball Club lost to the Minnesota Twins 3-2.

Cesar Hernandez hit a leadoff home run for the second consecutive game, this is the first time it has happened in Cleveland Baseball Club history. Hernandez would end up 2-5 in the contest.

Carlos Santana had a team-high 3 hits including an RBI single that brought the team within one run in the 7th inning.

Francisco Lindor finishing with two hits was a welcome sight considering his struggles at the plate the season. Lindor coming to life at the plate could make a positive impact for Cleveland’s offense this season.

Tyler Naquin also collected two hits and may be an answer to Cleveland’s outfield issues. Naquin showing any sign of consistency could provide at least an average outfield bat, a major upgrade for Cleveland’s outfield production.

Aaron Civale started the game for Cleveland and he pitched fine. Civale allowed 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8 in 6 innings. It was two pitches that Minnesota hit for home runs that made the difference in the game. Nelson Cruz hit a solo homer in the 4th and Migeul Sano hit a two-run shot in the 6th.

The performance of Aaron Civale and Cleveland managing 12 hits should have led to a win for the team. The team is stuck in a rut offensively and if they are unable to fix it soon it could lead to a disappointing end to the season.

Cleveland will look to even the series Tuesday at 7:10 P.M.
